What it is
Ipamorelin is a synthetic peptide classified as a growth-hormone secretagogue. It stimulates the body's natural production of growth hormone. Unlike other peptides in its class, it is highly selective, targeting specific receptors in the pituitary known as growth-hormone secretagogue receptors (GHS-R). It is studied for muscle growth, recovery, body composition, sleep, and overall wellness.
What researchers study it for
- Muscle growth and performance
- Improved body composition and fat metabolism
- Recovery from exercise or injury
- Healthy sleep patterns
- Tissue repair and regenerative health
- Anti-aging and overall wellness research
How it may work
- Binds to growth-hormone secretagogue receptors (GHS-R) in the pituitary
- Stimulates release of growth hormone into the bloodstream
- Highly selective, with minimal effect on other hormones such as cortisol and prolactin
- May support tissue repair, visceral fat metabolism, and fat metabolism
- Studied for recovery, sleep, and overall wellness
- Described on the sheet as a milder, more predictable profile than other GH-releasing agents
Research timeline
1–2 weeks
Early changes may include improved recovery and sleep quality.
3–6 weeks
Enhanced muscle recovery and body composition changes may become noticeable.
8–12 weeks
Continued improvements in strength, body composition, and overall well-being.
12+ weeks
Longer-term observations may include tissue repair, regenerative support, and sustained improvements in body composition.
10 mg research protocol
- Reconstitution
- 1 mL bacteriostatic water
- Final concentration
- 10 mg/mL
- Starting dose
- 200–300 mcg
- Syringe reference
- 5 units = 500 mcg. Read the data sheet for the unit mark that matches the starting dose.
- Frequency
- Daily
- Route
- Subcutaneous
- Research duration
- 12 weeks on, 4 weeks off
- Timing
- In a fasted state. The sheet notes morning or before bed, and to avoid food around the dose.
- Storage
- Refrigerate after reconstitution
Research duration on the sheet: 12 weeks on and 4 weeks off, as listed on the sheet.
Reconstitution
- 10 mg + 1 mL bacteriostatic water = 10 mg/mL.
- 5 units = 500 mcg.
Titration notes
- No dose-escalation schedule is specified on the source protocol.
- Starting dose on the sheet: 200–300 mcg. Adjustments are described as individual to the research design.
Important considerations
- For research use only. Not for human use.
- Use in a fasted state, depending on the research design.
- If the dose is missed, the sheet says not to double it. Resume at the next scheduled time.
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Store appropriately after reconstitution.

References
Completed published studies are listed below and labeled as in vitro, animal, or human research. Favorable and unfavorable results are both included, including cancer studies. This is not every paper on the compound, and it is not a recommendation or a dose.
The completed reports with a clear signal are animal studies. A completed cancer study was not identified.
- Ipamorelin, the first selective growth hormone secretagogueAnimal
Rats and swine. Ipamorelin released growth hormone without the ACTH and cortisol rise seen with earlier secretagogues.
- Ipamorelin and gastric emptying in a rodent model of postoperative ileusAnimal
Rats after abdominal surgery. Ipamorelin sped gastric emptying toward the rate seen in animals that had not had surgery.
